Presidential Speech

Being president has many requirements, such as knowing what changes to make for our society. But what if I were president? Well, the three main changes I would advocate for would be the following: removing a majority of our students’ college debt, resolving the outrageous prices of healthcare, and improving the state of our nutrition to make our citizens healthier. But why these of all other options? The simple answer is, college debt results in economic instability in our nation, causing many things to be out of our countries reach. Furthermore, the high healthcare prices are the reason why most Americans don’t pay for it, which will lead to greater medical bills. Lastly, since our society is tremendously suffering because of nutrition, the new types of food would significantly help us with becoming more fit and healthy.
Let’s start with the reduction of college debt. This is very important to not only individuals who are paying college tuition, but also for all Americans in general. To our civilians, it drastically reduces how much money we all have, mainly because of how much money that is owed overall. However, because so much is owed, many people are unable to gain money, because it all goes to the universities or loan-lenders without benefiting the majority of society.
But what evidence is there? According to Gale Opposing Viewpoints, there are multiple fees with the high tuition prices are would be added, which could drive debt to overwhelming amounts. The average loan balance is 1.6 trillion, which is around $37,717 per person. Thankfully, the Trump and Biden administrations helped reduce this amount, but not nearly enough because our citizens are still being affected every day by larger and larger debts.
Besides taking care that our economy is in good shape, what else must a president do? Well, the health and safety are of upmost priority for our government. So of that, the reduction of healthcare would significantly reduce the stress and number of people without access to medicine, doctors, and preventative care. Also, the reduction of healthcare cost would also allow the US to begin our journey to the development of treatments, advancements to science, etc.
Based on what Shameek Rakshit states, the NHIS reports that 1/4th of people do not have healthcare as of 2022 which shows that a majority of americans don’t use healthcare. Similarly, most of those adults also reported that they didn’t buy, take or get medicine because of these ever increasing prices, proving that the severity of this could be much worse. According to a study conducted by Harvard Medical School, we have been focusing more on creating cures instead of reducing the price of producing cures which will continue to increase the amount of debt that exists.
As a final point, our nutritional needs are getting worse and worse, and the use of lab grown meat could alter that significantly. By 2030, the use of more lab grown meat could result in things such as reduce carbon emissions which are damaging us alongside reducing chances of foodborne illness.
In 2015, the USDA announced, “The U.S. 2030 Food Loss and Waste Reduction goal, the first-ever domestic goal to reduce food loss and waste. The goal seeks to cut food loss and waste in half by the year 2030,” to counteract the damage that could be caused in 2030. Also, the increase of lab grown meat is already accepted by many countries. Each government’s regulatory agency will oversee cultivated meat production around the world. Some of these countries include the US, EU, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, etc. All these countries have been monitoring the production of these lab grown meats by carefully analysing every product to make sure that there are no parisites nor dangerous germs in the food which are the meats that will constantly be regulated, almost removing foodborne illness at the same time.
The change of Medicare pricing, reduction of student loans, and safer and easier to produce meats could change this economy for the better.
